I am a mother to two daughters (Evelyn, age 9 and Laurel, age 6). Both go to Cougar Run.
My husband is a Blackhawk helicopter pilot in the Colorado National Guard and a Mechanical Engineer at Lockheed Martin. I already have a few "hands-on" lessons/activities up my sleeves using his expertise. ;)
I graduated from CU Denver with my Masters in Social Sciences. My thesis is a curriculum I created fostering civic engagement among adolescents.
I won Teacher of the Year 2017 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
I am an avid audiobook and podcast listener. I usually am reading at least one book, listening to another, all while diving down rabbit holes with podcasts.
I enjoy naps, traveling, socializing, shopping, and not having to cook dinner.
I love organizing and being organized. It is my goal to help your student learn some of these skills, helping them on their road as life-long learners.
I grew up in a large family in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Our family vacations consisted of visiting historical sites, camping, hiking, or fishing near West Yellowstone or Jackson Hole, and/or completing a large project, "All Hands on Deck" was my family's motto.
My teaching style gears towards making my subjects come to life; either through hands-on simulations or experiments, or inviting experts to my classroom. If I'm not having fun teaching, why would I expect my students to have fun learning?
My daughters, husband and I love exploring Colorado and all it has to offer. We moved here in 2020, and bought our house three years ago in the Cougar Run neighborhood. This is my second year at CRun teaching and I LOVE IT!
