ABOUT ME

My name is Maggie Rickard, and I am so fortunate to be teaching music at Gold Rush. I have been teaching music for seven years, and I cannot imagine a more rewarding career. I believe music class should be a rigorous yet joyful part of school, full of play, movement, and discovery. 

I grew up in Golden, Colorado, and graduated from CU Boulder with degrees in French horn Performance and Music Education. I recently completed my Master’s Degree in Music Education at Colorado State University. I am also fully certified in Orff Schulwerk (a play-based philosophy for teaching music), and Kodály (a singing-based philosophy for teaching music.) I love to sing, play ukulele, play recorder, dance, and write songs. Most of all, I love making music with children! Outside of school I like to cook and bake, do jigsaw puzzles, and spend time outdoors.

It's always a joy to meet the families of these kids that we care so much about. Parents and families are always welcome to stop by the music room, say hi, and share your thoughts.
