Under Construction...
We'll decide a bit later this school year about completing the Tic Tac Toe in GT.
Students in grades 3-6 in MKS may participate in the SVE GT 9 Book Reading Challenge. The challenge is meant to allow advanced readers an opportunity to embrace and enjoy reading and explore different genres. Students will read a minimum of 9 books (they can read more) from at least 5 different genres throughout the school year. Once a book is read, it is recorded on the student's personalized Tic Tac Toe board. Three boards will be completed by each student throughout the year.
What is the Reading Tic Tac Toe Challenge?
Purpose
The Reading Tic Tac Toe Challenge is meant to put fun into independent reading. This reading experience is a personal challenge designed to support students, teachers, and families to embrace a culture of reading while exploring a variety of genres. Readers are asked to complete 3 Tic Tac Toe boards over the course of the school year, or to read 9 books from 5 different genres. Of course, they can always read more!
How does it work?
Each student will receive 3 Tic Tac Toe boards with directions on how to participate in the program. The challenge is laid out below:
Read a book from one of the genres on a Tic Tac Toe board.
Once you finish reading the book, complete the corresponding square on the board, show Ms. Tafoya, and have her sign off on the box.
Try to complete 3 in a row on each board for a Tic Tac Toe!
** Many students have already asked about completing a "Black Out" board! Each class will also help determine what the end reward will be for successfully working on the Reading Challenge, completing 3 Tic Tac Toes, and/or a Black Out Board.
