First Step: Referral
•Students may be be referred for Gifted Identification at any time by parents, teachers, staff, or themselves.
Northeast Gifted and Talented Parent Referral and Consent to Test Form
Each school will now have their own gifted education referral form, consent to test form, parent survey and student survey, combined into one Google form. (see link above).
This must be completed by both the parent(s) AND student in order to start the referral/identification process.
DCSD Identification Process Information
In DCSD, we follow the below flow chart for identifying a student as Gifted and Talented. This process can take many rounds of interventions (multiple opportunities for the student to demonstrate their gifts and talents consistently). We look at Quantitative Data (test scores, classroom performance) and Qualitative Data (responses to discussion questions, observational inventories by both classroom teachers, GT Facilitator and the student themselves).
I encourage parents/guardians to submit any examples (this can be commentary, observations of higher level thinking, creative endeavors the student participates in, etc). Please submit entries to Mrs. Gibbons via email at sgibbons@dcsdk12.org or by submitting this evidence via Google Form: Northeast Students Doing Amazing Things
