Fourth grade is a big transition year from the primary side of elementary school to the intermediate side. Students go from learning to read to reading to learn. Fourth grade is also a time when we start having a gradual release of adult responsibility and students become more independently responsible for their learning. Academically, we will continue to build and expand your math skills. We will continue to strengthen your skills and bring out your personality and voice in Writing through a variety of genres. We will continue to work on your reading, comprehension, and vocabulary skills, in both the fiction and non-fiction genres. Our Social Studies units this year include Colorado History including the geography, history, native peoples, and current issues of our wonderful state. Our Science curriculum includes Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science. WOW!! We have a lot of work and fun ahead of us!!
I hope you are as anxious as I am to spend our time together this year learning new things, strengthening others, and of course, having fun!
