I am so excited to be teaching your child math this year! I was a math major at the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) and I love math. Both of my parents were math teachers and let's just say I grew up with an appreciation for the beauty of math. I completed my Master's Degree in 2023 specializing in Mathematics - Middle Grades, which focuses on teaching math to 5th - 9th grades.
I grew up in Hawaii and have lived in Colorado since 2006. I spent two summers in college working on cruise ships in Alaska. Right out of college I spent a year teaching English at a Chinese university and was able to explore China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore during my time there. I once took a 40+ hour train ride across China on a hard wooden seat, ask me about it sometime! My husband and I have been married for over 20 years and have two wonderful children. Both of my kids are in high school.
I have taught high school math in Lansing, Michigan, have been a special education paraprofessional, substitute teacher and IT tech as well. For 4.5 years I worked at the IT department and Student Affairs department at Western Colorado University in Gunnison. I began my career with DCSD in 2017 as the IT technician at Eldorado Elementary. I was in this role for 4.5 years. During my time as the IT technician I also spearheaded and taught the science special. I spent the 2021-2022 school year at Ranch View Middle school where I was the IT technician for the year. However in March 2021, I was called upon to be a long term substitute teacher at Ranch View. I finished out the school year teaching 7th grade math. As much as I love working with technology I found my calling to return to the classroom. I taught 6th grade math for four years at Eldorado Elementary. I am excited to be returning to Ranch View Middle School as a 6th grade math teacher.
