How to take the Practice Tests:
It's best to take your Practice Tests in as "test-like" an environment as possible, so try to find a distraction free room and a quiet space.
Take each test subject in one sitting.
Put away your phone while you take each test in order to eliminate distraction and best reflect your knowledge and ability to manage the time it takes to do each practice test.
Length of test varies, you can take them in ANY order:
Science (45 minutes)
Mathematics (60 minutes)
Part 1 – calculator not allowed; Part 2 – calculator allowed
The math test includes a link to a formula button within the test, which can be helpful: GED Math Formula Sheet
Only use a calculator on the calculator section of the math test.
Social Studies (38 minutes)
Reasoning through Language Arts (78 minutes)
GED Preparation: After completion of the Practice Tests, you will be connected with the GED Team to schedule your GED Orientation.
Please review these guidelines to understand what your scores mean: Practice Test Score Breakdown
Light & Salt Learning has created this helpful free resource for the math test: GED Math Crash Course
Ready to Test: When ready to test, you will be put in touch with the GED Team to schedule your final GED tests:
IF you pass all four practice tests, the GED Testing Service might offer the option for you test online through GED. However, we STRONGLY recommend you to call and test in-person at our testing center in order to have the best testing environment. Additionally, testing online will cost additional money for the GED to proctor the test virtually.
Tests are scheduled by appointment only. Length of tests varies:
Science (90 minutes)
Mathematics (120 minutes) Part 1 – calculator not allowed; Part 2 – calculator allowed
Social Studies (75 minutes)
Reasoning through Language Arts (155 minutes)
6. Post GED Support: When finished with all four tests, the student will be able to receive a diploma, and will be able to access one of our Reengagement Specialists as a resource for post-GED next steps.
Please do not show up to the Tutoring Center without prior arrangement with a member of the DCSD GED Center or Tutoring Center team. For questions, please contact 720-355-1141.
