To provide meaningful connections for Bridge students in Douglas County and across the metro Denver community and support the rapidly expanding program, given its unique status, separate from schools.
The Bridge Parent Alliance is of high importance because our students are part of a population that is historically underserved, underrepresented, and under-employed. We want to empower our students with a stronger voice, visibility, and inclusive presence in the wider community so they have more choices in work and life.
Goals
Our goals during monthly meetings will be the following:
Growing Community Connections
Fundraising
As with all of our district schools and programs, our resources never quite match our dreams and hopes for our students. Community fundraising has become an essential part of meeting the needs of all of our DCSD students, and The Bridge Transition Program is no exception to this. Fundraising is an avenue to ensure our students greater access for our students through community trips, experiences outside of the Bridge Transition Program, and enriching the current programs.
Building Family Networks
Parent-Teacher Connections
Leadership
My name is Tonya West. I am a parent of a current Bridge student and fortunate enough to be an Educational Assistant in the Bridge program. I am taking on the lead role of the Bridge Parent Alliance.
We are seeking parents to join our Parent Alliance Team to support our young adults to the best of our ability which includes being a more active participant in the learning and leading fundraisers to support the needs of our young adults during these transitional years.
