How should I disinfect my technology?

Electronics Disinfection Guidance

Electronics such as telephones, keyboards/mice, or computers themselves should be sanitized regularly. Electronics are very sensitive instruments that do not react well with liquids of any kind to include disinfecting liquids. In order to properly disinfect, surfaces need to be kept visible wet for several minutes. Since this could harm electronics, we recommend that these electronics should be sanitized rather than disinfected. Sanitizing is different from disinfection by reducing the amount of time disinfecting liquids are present on the surface. Since we do not need to keep a surface visibly wet for several minutes, disinfecting wipes work well for this. To sanitize electronics such as telephones, keyboards, mice, etc. (but not screens), wipe the surfaces with a disinfecting wipe (Clorox, Lysol, etc.) and let dry. Do Not Use Hydrogen Peroxide Wipes such as Clorox Healthcare or Oxivir TB wipes.  Sanitizing must be done with plenty of time for the surfaces to dry before student/staff use them. We also highly recommend that each person sanitize their hands using hand sanitizer both before and after using the electronics. This will further reduce germs being transmitted from one person to the next.
