School Meals at No Cost for All Students
For the 2026–2027 School Year
All students in Douglas County School District RE-1 will receive breakfast* and lunch at no cost through Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All Program.
Research shows that students perform better when they are well-nourished. By providing breakfast* and lunch to every student at no cost, we are helping support student learning, health, and overall well-being.
Our school meals meet USDA nutritional guidelines, so you can feel confident that your child is receiving nutritious, balanced meals each school day while helping your family save both time and money.
*Breakfast is available at participating schools.
Why You Should Still Apply for Meal Benefits
Even though all students receive school meals at no cost, we strongly encourage every household to complete the Online Meal Benefits Application for free or reduced-price meal benefits, even if you are unsure whether your family qualifies.
Eligibility information helps schools receive important funding and resources that support students and families throughout the district. Completing an application may help provide additional funding for:
After-school programs
Nutrition programs and student support services
Educational resources and student opportunities
In addition, households that qualify may be eligible for:
Summer EBT benefits
Reduced school fees
Discounts on class materials and activities
Transportation assistance (such as bus fees)
Utility assistance programs
Other community-based benefits and services

The following resources are available to help you learn more about the program and apply for meal benefits:
Share Form – Authorizes the confidential sharing of eligibility information so qualifying students may receive fee waivers and other approved benefits.
All application materials and informational resources are available in English, Spanish, Russian, and Chinese. If you require information or application materials in another language, please contact Susan Babineau at 303-387-0368 for assistance.
The Online Meal Benefits Application for the 2026–2027 school year will be available beginning July 15, 2026.
