Remember that one of the best things about March Book Madness is the idea that students may be inspired to read new books:
Make fun, basketball themed book displays in your school hallways, library and classrooms
Highlight one of our MBM books during a read aloud to encourage students to vote!
Have students choose and create a campaign for their favorite book with posters, buttons & commercials
Make a school or grade level wide reward system for participation in MBM.
Try connecting with other classrooms during the event on Google Meet to talk about the books.
Use this opportunity to connect with other classrooms in your school by creating book buddies between older and younger students.
Have students do book talks of books they are familiar with to get other students interested. Or, they can write a book review to share with other students.
Invite your students to blog about the books they feel should win.
Create an MBM club at your school.
Show book trailers to your students to get them enthused. Better yet have your students create their own book trailers!
March Madness is the perfect time to encourage health and wellness in students' lives. Consider encouraging participation through incentives for quarter, semi, and finals winners such as "healthy lunch with the principal" or "basketball with your teachers".
