What is March Book Madness?
March Book Madness is a district-wide literacy event designed as an online bracket-style tournament that matches books in one-on-one games. Think basketball, but for books! The books will be decided by a simple vote on a Google Form. Students vote individually on the book they like best according to their grade or interest level. Students DO NOT have to read every book in the bracket....they can choose to read whichever ones they are interested in and then vote for and cheer on their favorites!
Every time a student votes for a book, their name will be entered in a drawing to win a Barnes & Noble gift card! Teachers will also be awarded book prizes based on student participation.
There will also be a GRAND PRIZE drawing after the Championship Round for 4 tickets to the Denver Zoo!
How To Join:
March Book Madness is for fun! There is no official way to join. It is about reading books, talking about books, and trying to decide how one book might be better than another.
After reading the books, students can vote for their favorites by clicking on the voting links which will be located on each grade level's page (links on the left). Students don't need to read all of the books to vote for their favorite!
How To Vote:
Voting opens January 4th and all of the voting and brackets will be located on this website. Find your grade level on the sidebar links to enter your vote.
Teachers or parents can fill out the voting forms for their students if necessary. If students have access to computers, they can fill out the forms individually. Or, share the links with your students so they can fill it out at home!
Enter your votes by these dates:
Round 1 (Sweet 16): Enter votes by January 28, 2022
Round 2 (Elite 8): Enter votes by February 11, 2022
Round 3 (Final 4): Enter votes by February 25, 2022
Round 4 (Championship): Enter final vote by March 11, 2022
Winners will be announced at the end of March!
