All about Mrs. Van Otten

This is my 2nd year at Frontier Valley. I love my job and I love getting to know our FVE Buffaloes and their families. My family moved to Colorado from Tennessee last year and we love exploring our new home state! I have 3 boys and a dog named Andie. On the weekend you'll find me on a hike, gardening, or on the soccer field cheering on my boys.

I love being outside, exploring new places, reading, baking, playing with Andie, and drinking coffee! I grew up in Arizona and have lived in many other places, including California, Hawaii, Kansas, Tennesse, and now Colorado. I was a teacher before I went back to get my Master's in school counseling in 2017. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NBCC), and I am working to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).

I work with students at Frontier Valley through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual counseling. I also help connect families to community resources and counseling services. Some of my favorite topics to teach students include mindfulness, growth mindset, and career exploration.
