We are so excited for the 26-27 School Year! We miss your smiling faces!
Office Information Our office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The main line to speak with a team member is 303-387-6675. The attendance line is 303-387-6677 to report any absences or late students 24/7. Our fax is 303-387-6676.
For the Safety of Our Students and Staff
Access into the building is through the main front door ONLY. ALL adults in the building must sign in at the front desk and wear a sticker or a badge (Volunteer or Little Cougars Parent badge). Please also ALWAYS have a photo ID with you. We will ask to see it!
Late Arrivals Students who arrive after the 8:40 bell will need to stop at the office to pick up a late pass and check in. Not doing so will result an absence call to parents as the student attendance will not change if marked absent.
Early Pick Up ALL students leaving early will be checked out from the OFFICE. The office will call a student to the office for early pick up when the permitted adult arrives at the office to sign the child out. That adult will be asked to wait in the hallway in front of the office for the child to arrive. We do not call students out until you have arrived to sign them out. Please note that we will not call students out after 3:15 pm. This is a vital time in the classroom when students are receiving instruction and homework for the evening. When picking up your child ALWAYS bring a PHOTO ID. This is for the safety of all staff and students.
REGISTRATION-Please contact Charlene Lube to register or withdraw a student. Leave a voicemail at 303-387-6682 or email clube@dcsdk12.org. Registration information is also on our website. Go to the drop down under “family resources” and choose “registration”.
Late Start Fridays for the 2026-27 School Year
We have heard from a few folks that the news of "Late start Fridays" was missed by some of our families in previous communication. The district sent out an email in January to all families notifying you of the change in schedule next year with school starting 45 minutes later that day. Below is the letter we shared in previous newsletters for your reference.
Dear Cougar Run Families,
The Douglas County School District has made the decision to implement dedicated Professional Learning Communities (PLC) time in its elementary and middle schools beginning next school year. This is something that already occurs in DCSD high school and is great news for our school!
This means, beginning next school year, our school will have a 45-minute late start every Friday to allow for dedicated PLC time.
While we understand the weekly late start might be inconvenient for some of our families, we want you to know that PLC’s are truly in the best interest of our students.
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) offer numerous benefits:
for students, this leads to more targeted and effective instruction, ultimately enhancing academic achievement;
for teachers, they provide opportunities for shared learning, professional growth, and improved instructional practices;
for schools, PLCs foster a collaborative culture, leading to greater consistency in curriculum and assessment.
DCSD still has many details to work out, including what this may mean for BASE and transportation. We will provide more information in the coming months.
Currently, DCSD is the only large school district in the Denver/metro area that has not yet built PLC time into its elementary and middle school schedules. We are looking forward to implementing this in our school next year.
