Open Enrollment is required if you would like to attend Cimarron Middle School but you live in the
boundaries of another DCSD middle school or out of district.
Intent to Remain
Intent to Remain
Students who continue to reside in Douglas County (and still within DCSD) but have moved out of the attendance boundaries of Cimarron, and wish to remain, must submit a Notice of Intent to Remain form to the Registrar. These students DO NOT need to open enroll.

If you are open enrolled at a neighborhood school or attend a DCSD-Authorized Charter School, but would like to return to the neighborhood school associated with your address for the next school year (26/27), intent to return forms were due to the school by January 5, 2026. If you missed this date, you must open enroll for a chance to return to your address assigned school, and enrollment is not guaranteed.
Please note: If you are currently attending your address-assigned neighborhood school, there is nothing you need to do at this time if you wish to remain.
The Intent to return process does not apply if you are home schooling, attending a non-DCSD Charter School, attending an out-of-district school, or private school. Please reach out directly to your address assigned school for more information. If you do not know your address-assigned school, visit the school locator map for more assistance.

Families who wish their student to attend a school other than their address assigned school must complete an open enrollment application during one of two open enrollment periods DCSD offers annually.
You do not need to open enroll to stay at your current school (UNLESS you have moved out of district).

You have until December 15th at 4 pm to accept an open enrollment offer from a school through the EngagED parent portal.
First Round Open Enrollment for the 27/28 school year begins on November 2nd, 2026 at 8:00 am and closes on December 1st, 2026 at 4:00 pm.
The First round window is open from November 2, 2026 at 8 am to December 1st, 2026 at 4 pm. It is not first come first serve, as the first round of Open Enrollment is prioritized by District Policy preference points. Open Enrollment applies to the following school year (beginning generally in August).
Schools will ONLY reach out to you when and if a spot becomes available.
Parents can see offers in the EngagED Parent Portal on December 8th at 8:00 am and have until December 15th at 4:00 pm, to log back in and accept any open enrollment offers. A reminder email will be sent to families by Choice Programming on the morning of December 8th.
If you miss the first round, the second round window is open from January 22, 2027 8 am to August 2 2027 4 pm. Second round open enrollment is "first come first served." Students requesting open enrollment only in the second round are placed on the wait list behind those that are currently on the wait list from first round.

JANUARY 22, 2027 8 am - AUGUST 3, 2027 4 pm
CLOSED
For parents who did not request open enrollment in the first round, the second round of open enrollment runs from
January 22, 2027 at 8:00 am through August 2, 2027 at 4:00 pm.
Applications received during the second window are time stamped and processed on a “first come, first served” basis. However, First Round Open Enrollment applications that were not accepted during the first Open Enrollment period are automatically placed on the annual prioritized wait list and have priority over second round applicants.
