Mrs. Burnett's Class

Welcome to fifth grade at Northeast! My name is Michele Burnett and I’m so excited to be your teacher this year. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and moved with my family to Parker in 2011. I have a BA in elementary education from Linfield College with a dual minor in mathematics and early childhood education. In Oregon I taught elementary school for nine years before taking time off to be a stay-at-home mom and school volunteer. In 2014, I returned to the classroom, teaching fifth grade at Northeast. I'm thrilled to be starting my eighth year at this wonderful school!

My husband and I live in the Pinery area with our two great sons, who both attended Northeast. Ryan is a freshman at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, and Grant is a senior at Ponderosa High School. When I am not at school, I spend a lot of time cheering on the Pacific University basketball team, where my son plays, and cheering on the Portland Trail Blazers. I also love cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and my two kitties, Lucy and Lily.

Fifth grade is such an exciting time as we finish out our elementary school years and prepare for middle school. Our year will be filled with lots of learning and lots of fun! I’m looking forward to a wonderful year with your family. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns: michele.burnett@dcsdk12.org. I can’t wait to see you all soon!
