Read on to learn more about your Bear Canyon Gifted Facilitator!
Hello Bear Canyon Elementary Families,
My name is Mrs. Lisa Busman, and I am absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your child this year! I am looking forward to a year filled with discovery, growth, and meaningful learning.
I am a proud Colorado native and graduated with my bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado Boulder. Driven by a desire to support all types of learners, I went on to earn my Master’s Degree in Education of Diverse Learners from the University of Phoenix. I began my teaching journey in 1995, serving gifted students across Jefferson County, Littleton, and Aurora Public Schools. In 1999, I joined Douglas County Schools, where I have spent over two decades designing enriched, engaging classroom experiences that challenge and inspire advanced thinkers. My true passion lies in gifted and talented education.
This year, my goal is to foster deep curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning. Gifted learners often have unique academic, social, and emotional needs, and I am dedicated to nurturing the whole child. I strive to create a safe environment where students feel comfortable taking academic risks, asking big questions, and celebrating what makes them unique.
When I’m not teaching, my life revolves around my family. I have been happily married for 28 years, and I love spending quality time with my husband and our three children. I enjoy diving into a good book, exploring the beautiful Colorado outdoors, traveling to new places, watching movies, gardening, and catching up with good friends.
I look forward to a wonderful year! Until then, enjoy the rest of your break.
Warmly,
Lisa Busman
