I am so excited to be your counselor for this school year! Many of you already know me, but here is a little information about me in case you do not.
I am was born and raised in Western Nebraska. When I was a kid, we spent many family vacations visiting family in Colorado, hiking, camping and going to Elitches. I attended the University or Nebraska-Lincoln for my undergraduate degree and Concordia University-Chicago for my masters in School Counseling degree.
I moved to Colorado last year from Chicago where I had lived for 15 years. During my time in Chicago, I was an Elementary School Counselor for seven years. This is my second year at Arrowwood Elementary and I have enjoyed working with the students, staff and families.
My job as a school counselor is to serve the entire school community. I help students apply academic achievement strategies, learn social-emotional skills and support students individually with their unique needs and challenges. One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is to collaborate with families, teachers and administration to promote the health and success of all students in and outside of school.
Although this year will look different, I am still available to support the AWE community. Please feel free to reach out for support and resources.
Ms. Nichole Flores, M.A.
