About Me

My name is Megan Wallace and I am so excited and honored to be an English Language Development (ELD) teacher here at Arrowwood. This is my second year at AWE!

In addition to being an ELD teacher this year,  I will also be working with First Grade for Math, and teaching Global Citizenship.

About Me

I've lived in Colorado almost all my life. We moved here from the Detroit area of Michigan when I was about 4 years old. I stayed in Colorado for college and graduated from CU Boulder with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. I also have a Master’s in Elementary Education through Regis University. The only other place I've lived is Hangzhou, China! I studied Chinese in high school and college. After graduating from CU, I moved to Hangzhou to teach English to college students. I spent over a year living in China. After the school year ended, I moved to Shanghai, China and ran a summer camp for children of expats from all over the world!

I live in Parker with my husband, Chet. We have two boys, Thomas and Michael, but we will be empty nesters this year! Michael will be a freshman at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Thomas will be a junior at Montana State University in Bozeman. We also have a 10 year old golden retriever named Oliver. We love taking part in all the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. Our favorites are skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping. Aside from those activities, I am very passionate about reading! I started reading to my boys when I was pregnant with them, and I love to read myself.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that education should encompass the whole child. Therefore, my job as an educator is to support children in academics, but also to encourage them to become lifelong learners who think critically. Of course, we cannot care for the whole child without supporting and encouraging the development of strong social skills that help students become good citizens, kind, caring friends, and confident leaders. I aim to build a classroom community of learners who support each other, take risks, and believe in a growth mindset.

I am honored to be part of your child's educational journey!
