My biggest recommendation is to practice multiplication at home through games. Multiplication games work well because they combine repeated practice and mental math strategies, with a game format. When students roll dice and calculate products, they solve many multiplication problems quickly without feeling like they are doing a chore. No battles to practice!! Repeated exposure provides the mastery they need! Below are some of my faves. I also recommend waiting until we've had our multiplication introduction unit to introduce daily practice - until then, work on mental addition and subtraction!
