My name is Tanya Twete, your Social Studies teacher on 7-Orange! This is my eighth year teaching in Douglas County. Before coming to Colorado in 2013, I lived and worked in Washington State, Florida, Texas, Indiana, Virginia, D.C., and Germany.
I was born in Germany and moved around as an Army brat, mainly living in Virginia and D.C. area. I grew up traveling with my ballet school, my parents, and then my husband all over Asia, Europe, South America, and the US.
My family moved to Colorado in 2013 and we love to ski, hike, run, camp, travel, and watch movies together.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Western Washington University. I then worked in emergency services and children's services at a Wellness center. I also taught ballet, yoga, and was the Director of a Preschool. I received my Master's in Education from Grand Canyon University and have taught in 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, and was a Gifted and Talented Coordinator. I am so excited to be in 7th grade again this year!
I love to travel and to learn about different places, and share these experiences with my students! I am a believer that everyone has talents to share and can reach their highest potential. I love for students to take risks in their learning, make mistakes, push each other's thinking, and have fun.
I am very excited to be a part of the team at Mountain Ridge and looking forward to a great school year.
