5th Grade

Influence Increases Opportunity

We influence others to increase opportunities for positive change.

Fifth-graders learn that influence is the ability to effect change in the actions, beliefs, and choices of others and that increasing our sphere of influence will increase the number of people who hear our message resulting in positive change in our communities. They learn how to analyze current problems and design possible solutions using a process of inquiry to action.

Healthy Water, Healthy Birds - How can we work with and influence others in our community to solve problems that will help protect Earth’s resources and environments?

Influencing Opportunities in America - How did individuals living in North America from European colonization through the establishment of the United States Government influence opportunity in America?

Spheres of Influence - How can we positively influence the interactions of spheres in the natural world?

Teachers

Kelly Hartman

I am so excited to be a part of the Lone Tree Elementary Community this year.  This will be my 21st year in education.  I have taught all grades from preschool to fifth grade.  For the past 10 years, I taught fourth grade at Buffalo Ridge Elementary in Castle Pines.  I really enjoy teaching the older students as they are old enough to get my jokes but are young enough to still think I’m funny!!   I grew up in Colorado Springs and attended CSU in Fort Collins.  My husband and I have two beautiful daughters, Addisyn just graduated from CU Boulder and Kendall is a Junior at CU.  I love to spend my time outdoors hiking, skiing, camping, traveling, and with family and friends.

Amy Jaramillo

I am a Colorado native and love to enjoy the outdoors! I grew up in Ft. Collins, went to college in Colorado Springs, and have enjoyed teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades for 21 years in Douglas County.  My interests include various forms of art, books, movies, math, science, creating, and learning.  My oldest son is a senior at Montana State University and my youngest son will be a freshman at Colorado State University this year.  This is my second year at LTE and I have found that the Lone Tree approach fits well with my philosophies and interests!  I find interacting with young curious minds to be very inspiring, and building relationships in a new learning community will be fun!
