WELCOME TO THE GUTSCH CREW!!!
Fifth grade is a challenging, exciting, and emotional time for your child and I am blessed to be a part of it. I am hopeful that while we navigate these “coming of age” times together, I can be a steady source of comfort and knowledge for not only the students, who are now my kids, but you as well.
Let me take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Jessie Gutsch and I will be your child’s homeroom teacher. Originally, I am from southwest North Dakota, but moved to Colorado for college thirty-two years ago. I completed my undergrad at Metro State where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Behavioral Science. I went on to receive a Masters in Elementary Literacy from Walden University. This will be my twenty-eigth year teaching with experience in grades 1, 2, 3, and 5. Prior to joining the SVE Crew six years ago, I taught in Jefferson County. I have found the Summit View community to be incredibly welcoming and feel right at home!
My husband, two children (Ethan (19) & Madelyn (16)), and I love Colorado! We enjoy being outdoors and love sports. Ethan hung up his baseball cleats a year ago, but we're thankful to still enjoy watching Madelyn play soccer. This fall, Ethan will be a sophomore in college and Madelyn will be a senior!! (Squeeze your kiddos now because it only goes by faster from here!) We also have two dogs. Sox is a terrier mix we rescued eight years ago and Coco is a five year old shih poo. As for me, I'm blessed to be their Momma and am enjoying the journey.
My biggest goal is that all of my students not only enjoy my class but succeed as well. The age-old saying “It takes a village…..” is so true. That being said, I believe in strong parent-teacher-student communication. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at jgutsch@dcsdk12.org and I will respond as quickly as I can, typically within twenty-four hours during the school week.
