About Team B

We are using a collaborative model this year to help your student prepare for the transition to middle school. The teacher name you received for class placement will be your child's homeroom teacher. Mrs. Burnett and Mrs. Bender share equal time with each student on Team B.

About Mrs. Bender

Hello! My name is Kilee Bender and I can’t wait to be your literacy and science teacher this year! This is my fourth year at Northeast and my seventh year teaching 5th grade. I grew up in Shawnee, Kansas, but my family now lives in Monument, which sparked our move to Colorado. 5th grade is my favorite grade to teach because of the love of learning and confidence that comes from the last year of elementary school! My classroom runs on the motto, “Work Hard, Play Hard,” so I am ready for great year of academic growth and fun!

My husband and I live in Castle Rock with our golden retriever, Moose, who keeps us busy! In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, hiking, going to concerts, playing sports, and traveling. Any student from previous years will tell you that I love singing Disney songs, cheering on the Chiefs in football, and drinking Starbucks iced caramel macchiatos!

About Mrs. Burnett

Hello! My name is Michele Burnett and I’m excited to be starting my ninth year teaching fifth grade at Northeast and my 17th year of teaching. I’m originally from Portland, Oregon, where I taught elementary school for several years before taking a few years off when my children were young. Our family moved to the Pinery area in 2011, and I’m thrilled to be teaching in the community where I live. I absolutely love teaching fifth graders - what a great age!

When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I have two sons: Ryan is a sophomore at Colorado Technical University and Grant is getting ready to start his freshman year at Arizona State University. Both boys are graduates of Northeast! We also have two great kitties, Lucy and Lily. I love to read, cook, and travel, and we are a basketball loving family. (Go Trail Blazers!)
