3rd Grade

Collaborators Create Change

We collaborate with others to create greater opportunities for change.

Third-graders learn how humans collaborate to create change in their communities based on current issues and problems. They use the process of inquiry to understand the specific action steps to take as individuals or groups to impact positive change.

Greening Up Our City - How can we collaborate with each other and our local government to create a “greener” city with healthy environments for plants and animals?

Collaboration Years Ago - How did people in the past work together to influence the development and interaction of different communities or regions, including economic development.

Is Weather Unstoppable?  - How can humans take steps and work together to reduce the impact of natural weather-related hazards that occur across different geographic areas in Colorado?

Teachers

Lesli Unger

Growing up in Brighton, Colorado, I began teaching in 2006, and have taught in Douglas County since 2016. I have also taught in Arizona and abroad, in the United Arab Emirates. I love spending my free time traveling, going to soccer games, and hanging out with my granddaughter, Chelsea. My passion as an educator is to provide students with the tools and experiences they need to be successful and enthusiastic life-long learners.

Buffy Wise

I am passionate about building a learning environment where my students become fully engaged in exploring and developing their own strengths, as well as actively making real-world connections.  This is why I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade at LTE this year! I have over 12 years of experience teaching grades K-5 in Los Angeles, Chicago, and now in Douglas County.  When not at work, I love spending time with my family and friends, traveling, being active outside, playing board games, reading, and gardening.  I also spend most weekends cheering my son and daughter on from the sidelines!
