2nd Grade
Contributing Builds Community
We contribute to help build better communities.
We want our second-graders to understand how to positively contribute to their community as individuals and as a group. They learn that productive citizens identify with being part of a community and their actions contribute to building the community’s values and practices.
Contributing Scientists - How can we make observations and create experiments and models based on scientific thinking that will help us contribute to our natural community in a positive way?
Contributing Citizens, Past and Present - How can we learn from other citizens to help us understand how to take an active part in improving our school or community?

Jessica Anderson
Bachelor's in Elementary Education, Ohio State University
Master's in Elementary Education, Ohio State University
Born and raised in Ohio I briefly taught there before moving to North Carolina to pursue my dream of being a teacher, as well as live near the beach. After teaching for 11 years in the Tarheel state, the birth of my niece was my incentive for moving across the country to Colorado to be with family. My favorite part of education is seeing students put together pieces of information they have learned all year, as well as seeing their tremendous progress! When I’m not in the classroom you can find me with my family, reading a good book, spending time with my cat Zooey, watching my favorite shows, or spending time near the water.

Bachelor's in Education, University of Wyoming
Living in Colorado my entire life, I actually went to school in the Douglas County School District. I am passionate about empowering and supporting the next generation and am very honored to be at LTE to do that. I see students as individuals and am eager to meet the students where they are and help them grow as learners and humans. I am passionate about learning, and hope to instill that same passion in my students! Outside of school, I love to be outdoors, specifically paddle boarding and hiking, and spending time with my family and church community.
