1st Grade

Investigating Creates Understanding

We investigate to learn and become problem-solvers who make the world a better place.

We immerse our first graders in learning experiences that prompt them to ask good questions, develop investigations, and consider possible solutions. We then want them to communicate and act upon what they learn.

We are Scientists! - What tools and strategies can we use to investigate and learn about our natural world so that we can solve problems to make the world a better place?

We are Citizens! - How can we investigate people and places to help us understand how to become responsible leaders and/or team members who make a difference in our own lives and the lives of others?

Teachers

Teresa Lane

I believe in building strong student relationships by providing a nurturing environment, both physically and emotionally, and feel that making strong connections with students is the foundation for academic success. Passionate about literacy and maximizing individual student growth, I love helping young readers and writers develop skills in literacy that will allow them to reach their highest potential. Setting high expectations and guiding children to rise to the challenge socially, emotionally, and academically. I seek to encourage and lead students to think critically and creatively through collaboration, the use of technology, and authentic and differentiated learning activities.
