Library Lessons

Pre-K

Half of our Pre-K classes come in one week and the other half come the next week to hear two read-alouds.

Kindergarten & First Grade

Our Kindergartners and First Graders come in to the library once every week for 30 minutes. They alternate each week between book week and Chromebook week.

During book week, they hear a read-aloud and have the opportunity to check out one book that stays in their classroom. During Chromebook week, we do an activity of some sort with the whole class on Chromebooks.

2nd-5th Grade

Our second, third, fourth, and fifth grade classes also come to the library every week for 30 minutes.

During book week, they have the opportunity to check out two books and those books can come home with them or stay at school. We usually recommend one book for home and one book for school.

During Chromebook week, they have the opportunity to do a variety of technology activities. They learn about things like Digital Citizenship, Google Apps, and Filming and Editing Videos using our new green screen!

Many of the read-alouds students hear in the library are books nominated for a Nevada Young Readers Award.
