Orientation

Recreational Outdoor Games

  • Softball Demonstrates the ability to; throw, catch, hit, field, bunt, pitch, run bases, steal bases, and tag-up, through group activity stations. Apply skills learned into game play situation
  • Soccer Demonstrate the ability to; dribble, pass, one foot, trapping, knee trap, goal kick, shot kick, pass to teammate, heading, lift to self, lift to teammate, roll, juggling, goalkeeping, throw-in, through group activity stations. Apply skills learned into game play situations

Frisbee Golf

  • Frisbee golf, Demonstrates the ability to; run, toss (types of toss, short distance, long distance), aim target strategies, catch, group and individual play

Outdoor Recreational Activities- (Differentiated Instruction/Stations)

SOL 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5a,b

  • Archery- Demonstrates the appropriate technique; stringing and unstringing the bow, address the target, hocking the arrow, drawing the bowstring, aim, and releasing the arrow.
  • Bocce ball- Demonstrates the appropriate technique; to aim is to score as many points as possible by placing their set of colored balls closest to the white jack ball. An attack and defend game, with two sides competing over a set number of ends.
  • Croquet- Demonstrates the appropriate technique; to aim and drive away (an opponent's ball) by holding one's own ball against it and striking this with the mallet. A player is entitled to do this after their ball has struck an opponent's ball.
  • Horse shoes - Demonstrates the appropriate technique; outdoor game played between two people (or two teams of two people) using four horseshoes and two throwing targets. The game is played by the players alternating turns tossing horseshoes.

Track and Field

Fitness Testing (Mid-term)

Badminton

Dodgeball

  • Dodgeball- Demonstrate the ability to ; throw, catch, and dodge, a game in which players in a circle try to hit opponents inside the circle, thus eliminating them, with an inflated ball
  • Apply dodgeball skills to advance games of dodgeball, Army dodgeball, fitness dodgeball, four corner dodgeball, basketball dodgeball, soccer dodgeball, and pin dodgeball

Rhythmic Movements

  • Continuation of basic bone, muscle, body system knowledge, and cardiovascular fitness
  • Introduction to Rhythmic Movements, Balance and Transfer of Weight through cardiovascular fitness activities and Weight room/fitness
  • Rhythmic movements activities may include , Aerobics/Dance, line dances, Tae-Bo, step, yoga, circuit training, Pilates, toning, kickboxing, and other continuous activities

Volleyball

Weight Training

  • Continuation of daily proper stretching techniques to increase flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and body composition
  • Introduction to Weight-room fitness knowledge to learn proper lifting techniques, spotting methods, weight room safety and workout routines.
  • Activities will include, but are not limited to, a multitude of lifts utilizing free weights and machine weights, as well as an emphasis on conditioning and fitness.

Speedball

  • Introduction and Review of Rules and Regulations/History of Speedball, understand speedball vocabulary, terminology, and safety concerns
  • Apply skills learned in soccer (foot dribble, pass, trapping, goal kick, goalkeeping, throw-in), football (catch, throw, block, run, touchdown), and basketball (hand dribble, pass, catch, basket goal) to play speedball

Indoor Diamond Games

  • Students will continue to perform all basic movement skills and demonstrate movement and biomechanical principles in a variety of activities that may include indoor pursuits, fitness activities to achieve individual performance activities and goals

Indoor Recreational Activities- (Differentiated Instruction Stations)

  • Badminton- Demonstrate the ability to; serve, return, forehand, and backhand, game play, singles and doubles play.
  • Table tennis- Demonstrates the appropriate techniques; serve, shots, swings (underhand, overhand, side-arm)

  • Corn hole- Demonstrate the ability to; play a game in which small bags filled with dried corn are tossed at a target consisting of an inclined wooden platform with a hole at one end
