DIRECTIONS
Student Pairing Code
You will need a Pairing Code for each student to complete this process.
To get the student pairing code, go to the student's Canvas account.
Click on Account and then Settings.
This will open the student's settings page.
On the right side of the window, there is a Pair with Observer button.
Click on the button to get the pairing code. The code will expire in seven days, or after one use. More codes can be generated if needed from that same button.
Creating Your Account
1. Go to https://dinwiddie.instructure.com/login/canvas
2. Click on: Click Here For an Account.
3. Fill in your name, email, password, and enter the student pairing code. This is case sensitive.
Note: If you are a DCPS teacher with a Canvas school account and have a child that attends DCPS, it is recommended that you use a different email than your school email to create your parent account.
4. Click on the Start Participating button.
Adding Additional Students
You will need the pairing code for each additional student. Use the directions above to obtain the code.
Once you are in the first account, click on the Account option on the menu found on the left side of your screen.
Then click on Observing.
Type the Student Pairing Code in the provided text box.
Click on +Student.
You should see the names of each student under Students Being Observed.
Click on the Dashboard on the left side of your screen to see all courses.
Canvas Parent App
Download the Canvas Parent app.
Open the app and click on Find School.
Type in Dinwiddie County Public Schools - Parents - VA.
If you already have your account set up, log in using your same Canvas Parent login and password.
If you have not created your account, you will need to obtain the student pairing code.
Follow the same directions for creating your account.
