Following 3 years of teaching in TN and VA, Mr. Jonathan McCullough came to Dickenson County in 2019. Now in his 6th year as Director of Bands at Ridgeview High School, and 9th year of total teaching, Mr. McCullough is very excited about the future of the Ridgeview Band program.
Overseeing the entirety of the Ridgeview Bands, Mr. McCullough teaches and directs the 6th Grade Beginner Band, 7th Grade Intermediate Band, Ridgeview Concert Band, Ridgeview Jazz Band, and the Pride of the Pack Marching Band! In addition, Mr. McCullough also assists in the area of middle school General Music.
Besides Mr. McCullough's teaching responsibilities, Mr. McCullough is an active performer and arranger. Performance ensembles include the KYVA Winds, Stateline Wind Symphony, UVA-Wise Highland Winds, and the Higher Ground Baptist Church Orchestra.
In terms of music arranging, Mr. McCullough has arranged works for various ensembles including high school and college marching bands, concert bands, small ensembles, trumpet choirs, a cappella SATB choir, as well as choir and orchestra. Mr. McCullough is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
Other professional organizations Mr. McCullough holds membership in includes the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA), Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA), and the National Band Association (NBA).
And yes, as displayed above, Mr. McCullough is a tremendous supporter of the University of Tennessee Bands, and the Pride of the Southland Marching Band!
