The Nurse Aide program is taught at Ridgeview High School for high school juniors and seniors. It is a prerequisite for entry into the Practical Nursing Program. High School juniors must complete course and achieve certification in order to apply for the Practical Nursing Program during the senior year. The Nurse Aide program is approved by the Virginia State Board of Nursing and the Virginia Department of Education. The program requires 80 hours minimal of instructional hours, 80 hours of skills lab and 40 hours of clinical to meet the requirements for the State Board of Nursing. The class is taught Fall and Spring Semester each year during 1st and 2nd blocks.
The Nurse Aide focuses on students learning to provide safe competent personal care to patients. The student will be able to obtain employment as a Certified Nurse Aide upon successful completion of course and certification. The program utilizes work based competencies and the principles of simulated work place to prepare our students for success.
