2. Navigating the Standards

The NYS Science Learning Standards have been developed with the use of two works of published research, "Next Generation Science Standards: For States, By States" and "A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas". Both of these books can be viewed or downloaded for free at NAP.edu. The title of the second book suggests the view in which science should be taught with the science and engineering practices, the concepts that cross many of the different sciences that make connections, and the core ideas or content.
