Hi! I am Mrs. Valdez and I am your school counselor! I am so glad you are here. I am the school counselor at Barrett Ranch Elementary and Olive Grove Elementary this year. This is my 4th year in the Dry Creek school district and my 6th year as a school counselor and I love it!
A little about me... I grew up in Roseville area before heading off to college at San Jose State University, where I received my bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Communications. I then went on to graduate school at Sacramento State to receive my master's degree in School Counseling!
When I am not at school, I love beach days with my family where my 2 daughters can get as sandy as humanly possible. We also love rooting for our favorite sports teams. My favorite team to watch is the Sacramento Kings and I was so excited that last time we made it to a game, we got to see them LIGHT THE BEAM!
As a school counselor, I am here to ensure that students have what they need to be successful in school. I teach skills and lessons to promote problem-solving skills, create a safe and supportive learning environment for all, and build resiliency skills through addressing coping skills, goal-setting, and self-awareness.

About This Course:
Please join us virtually to discuss and update you on our campus's current & planned safety and security measures. This presentation will provide an overview of our current and planned physical security and policy updates, which we are preparing to implement, to ensure your students have a safe learning environment. Additionally, parents/guardians will be provided information and training on their roles in the unlikely event of a critical incident on campus. Please join our Safety and Security Consultant, Jeff Solomon, for a 60-minute overview, with an opportunity for Q&A at the end of the program.

Jeff Solomon has been Dry Creek's school safety consultant for over a decade. He and his team know our schools inside and out and have led multiple training sessions for staff, including Active Shooter Incident, Critical Issues in Campus Safety, Managing Difficult Moments and Understanding the Escalation of Violence, and Safety Guidebook Response Training.
