6th Grade Band
We will begin using instruments on Monday, August 21st. If you do not have access to an instrument, you will need to rent one from a music store. This costs approximately $30 per month. (Saxophones will cost more.)
.
Please do not purchase an instrument for your student from Costco, Sam's Club, Target, Amazon etc. These instruments are often of poor quality and local repair shops will not work on them. The lower the quality the instrument, the harder it will be for your student to succeed.
I understand the difficulties of getting an instrument by August 21st. The longer a student goes without an instrument/book the harder they will have to work to catch up with the rest of the class. If you have questions or are unable to get an instrument by the 21st please email me in advance.
All students in Beginning Band will need the book Standard of Excellence Book 1 (red) for their given instrument. Listed are the names and phone numbers from stores in the area I recommend, all of which carry the book and rental instruments. If you cannot afford to purchase a book or rent an instrument please contact me.

We have a limited amount of school instruments to rent out. The cost for the year is a $35 donation for a school instrument. You will also be expected to cover any damages your student causes to the instrument.
Please make sure that each instrument has identification on its case prior to bringing it to school. Instrument cases look alike, and you do not want your student confusing their instrument case with another student.
When you first receive the instrument please make sure that your student does not try to put it together until they have been taught to do it safely in class. The instrument is very fragile and can be damaged quite easily.
