Please note that these sessions are intended for school coordinators only!
In short, this depends.
If students are connecting from home, they will need a device (computer, smart phone, tablet) with a microphone, access to the internet, and be able to log into the Zoom platform. If teams are working in a common space at school, we suggest connecting one laptop to a smartboard so all students can view the event.
All students joining the event will need to use Zoom, either through a laptop or the Zoom app on a device.
The number of connections that we can support on Zoom is limited to those participating in the event. However, the link can be shared with one extra principal or teacher that would like to attend.
Yes and no.
If a child is participating from their home, parents may watch their child participate on that same device that the child is using to connect to the event. Due to the limited number of connections that we can have on each Zoom meeting, parents are not permitted to connect from their own device(s).
If a team is participating from school, each school can make the decision whether to have parents in the room. Due to the limited number of connections that we can have on each Zoom meeting, parents are not permitted to connect from their own device(s).
NOTE: Participating schools and teams are not permitted to live stream the event on their own channels (i.e. YouTube, Facebook Live, etc.).
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD PARENTS CONNECT FROM THEIR OWN DEVICES TO ZOOM. THE CAPACITY OF THE ZOOM ROOM IS LIMITED AND WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS NUMBER
No part of the event will be recorded.
Students are not required to turn on cameras.
While not required, we strongly encourage teacher volunteers to turn on their cameras.
This event is considered "private" and will not be broadcast to the web (e.g. YouTube or Facebook Live) or recorded.
The DCIU will not record the event or post any pictures or video of the event.
Participating schools and teams are not permitted to live stream the event on their own channels (i.e. YouTube, Facebook Live, etc.).
If a school would like to post any pictures (e.g. screen captures) of their own students participating in this event, it is a local decision and should follow the policies and procedures of the Local Education Agency (LEA). Schools must make sure to not post any pictures/videos of students from other schools.
Of course! Ribbons will be mailed to schools as quickly as possible following each event.
Yes and yes.
