MSgt Scott Griggs

MSgt Griggs has been teaching AFJROTC since 2001.  He has taught at FL-943, Hamilton County H.S., Jasper, FL, GA-946, Mitchell County H. S., Camilla, GA, GA-064 at T.W. Josey High School, Augusta, GA and now at GA-942, Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge, GA.  MSgt Scott Griggs has grown up traveling the world. As a young child he lived in Singapore, Thailand, and Saigon, South Vietnam. (Yes, during the Viet-Nam War). He has been to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.  In addition, he has lived across the United States, on the West Coast, the South West, the Mid-South, the Deep South and the Pacific Northwest.    

MSgt Griggs entered the Air Force through the Delayed Entry Program while still a senior in high school.  After graduating high school, he completed Basic Training at Lackland AFB, Texas.  MSgt Griggs was then sent to Chanute AFB, Illinois where he received his training as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Technician (AGE).  During his career, he served in a wide variety of positions actively supporting 3 different weapons systems, B-52 Bombers, KC-135 Aerial Tankers, and A-10 Fighters.  His responsibilities included Field Training Detachment Instructor, Combat AGE Team Leader, Combat Plans NCOIC, Squadron First Sergeant and AGE Production Superintendent.  MSgt Griggs also participated in contingency and combat Operations to include PACIFIC TANKER TASK FORCE (Diego Garcia), Operation PROVIDE COMFORT (Turkey), Operation SOUTHERN WATCH (Kuwait), and Operation DENY FLIGHT (Italy).  MSgt Griggs retired from the Air Force in 2001 after 23 years of distinguished service.  He is married to the former Amy Jo Tiner of Pocahontas, AR.  They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  When he isn't instructing Bainbridge HS AFJROTC Cadets, MSgt Griggs can be found enjoying his favorite pastimes: Relaxing on the beaches of the Gulf Coast, Cross Country running (2-3 Miles or a 5K). Being an avid auto enthusiast, over the years he has owned a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, a 1973 Mercury Cougar, a 1977 Chevrolet El Camino, and his current project a 1962 Ford Thunderbird (Kustom).
