BHS BOOK CLUB
Purpose
BHS Book Club meets once a month to share the books that we have read. Each month's meeting is based on a theme or genre. Members are encouraged to read one of this year's Georgia Peach Book Selections or one of this year's TOME Book Selections. The purpose of the BHS Book Club is to encourage students to read outside of the classroom, to develop skills in critical thinking, and to increase students' lexile levels. Not only do we share about the books that we are reading at book club meetings, but we write book reviews to share our books with other BHS students. Book club is sponsored by Ms. Montague and Mrs. Medley.
Fundraiser and Service Project
Book Club's yearly fund raiser is Bearcat Brew. On Friday mornings in the cold weather months, we sell hot cocoa, coffee, and tea to students and teachers. We use the profits to buy our refreshments for our meetings and to support our service project(s). We sponsor the sanitary pad dispenser in the Girls Cafeteria bathroom which provides supplies for free all year long.
