Try-Outs

What are they and why do we need them?

The Charger Volleyball program does not guarantee placement on a team at the high school level. In order to maintain a beneficial and competitive practice environment, we need to limit the number of participants. We will do our best to retain as many participants in our high school program as possible, without jeopardizing the safety of our athletes and compromising the effectiveness of practice.

During the try-out period, coaches will be evaluating each athlete on their volleyball IQ, technique, skill, attitude, coachability, teamwork, leadership skills and work ethic. Coaches will be reviewing and teaching techniques and the fundamentals of volleyball.  Athletes are given the chance to practice these skills during a wide variety of drills and games. 

All high school athletes MUST BE PRESENT at tryouts to be considered for a team.   If there are extenuating circumstances that prevent your daughter(s) from attending tryouts, please contact the Varsity Coach prior to the start of tryouts.  Priority will be given to those athletes in attendance at all try-out dates when deciding team placement.

At the end of tryouts, each athlete will meet with a coach to discuss their placement.  All decisions made by coaches and athletes will be final and will not be discussed with parents.

Try-Out Dates:   August 11-13th 

8:00 am - 12:30 pm

*bring snacks, extra shirt and socks

Please wear specific colors during tryouts:

Seniors - Black

Juniors - White

Sophomores - Blue

Freshman - Red

7th/8th Grade - Grey

Players will be notified of their placement August 13th between 11:15-12:30 pm. Players will leave immediately after team placement. 

This can be a sensitive time for some athletes, so we ask that you please ensure your athlete has a ride waiting on this date between 11:15-12:30 pm.
