Plastic pollution and solutions
To prevent plastic from getting into our waters we could do a lot of things to help. We could reduce plastic waste and use reusable bags, bottles, and containers instead of single-use plastics. Proper waste disposal could also help the oceans be more clean and plastic free. You should dispose chemicals, oils, and non-biodegradable materials properly.
To help, you could also use ocean friendly products such as using biodegradable sunscreen that don’t contain harmful chemicals that can be harmful to the ocean. In addition you could also join or host and beach cleanup to get the community together and make a difference. On top of that, you could educate others and teach others about how to take action themselves.
If we all work together, plastic pollution will be less of a problem for us and marine life.
Playing on the beach is very fun and enjoyable, but sadly ocean pollution is getting worse and worse so you can join a beach clean up and help clean our beaches. Even though doing a beach clean up is good for the ocean, you still have to be safe.
When doing a beach clean up you should
Don't touch sharp and harmful objects
Always stay in the safe areas
Don't collect rubbish that has living things on it.
Bring an adult in case you need help (this is only required for kids)
Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. No slippers or sandals
Bring plenty of water in a reusable bottle. Drink before you are thirsty to prevent dehydration
Always use gloves to pick up things and protect your hands. Be aware of what you are touching.
You could reduce your use of plastic because every little difference helps! You could bring your own reusable bags when you are shopping, you could bring your own containers to store spices and other ingredients. Even not using plastic for a day helps our ocean because a lot of people use a lot plastics everyday.
Tips to reduce your plastic use.
Use reusable items.
Reduce single use plastics.
Another way to help our oceans be more plastic free is to educate and teach others about ocean pollution. When you teach others and show them that our precious oceans are being polluted, people might agree and start to help.
When you go to the grocery store to buy things, you can reuse or recycle the products that you buy. you can use the recycle products for other uses instead of throwing them into the bin because it will eventually end up in landfills and make their way to our oceans.
