Ms. Merrill
Welcome!
"The chief aim of all investigations of the external world should be to discover the rational order and harmony . . . [through] the language of mathematics. ...Just as the eye was made to see color and the ear to hear sounds, so the human mind was made to understand quantity." ~ Johannes Kepler

ABOUT ME
EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY
I believe that everyone wants to learn and ultimately be happy. The interesting part about childhood is that children really don't know what they even like yet, so we should just instill in children the love of learning. While I enjoy when I hear a student say that they love learning math, I am equally excited to hear that they love history, or literature, or science.. We need to learn to live better.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO
GET TO KNOW ME
what is your favorite book?
I love reading historical fiction, mostly in the time of the Revolutionary War and World War II. My favorite books include The Book Thief, All the Light We Cannot See, Boys in the Boat, and Winter Dance. I try to read all of the books that the students at Ascent read in the curriculum.
What is your favorite subject?
Many people expect me to say mathematics; but I genuinely love learning. I started taking piano lessons over the summer!
