Intro to British Literature seeks to restore an attitude of scholae to Literature. Through humility
towards the texts and towards one another, 7th grade scholars will leisurely abide with canonical
novels, plays, and poems and then carry honest discussions of the truth, beauty, and goodness of those
texts. My hope as a facilitator is to model a mindful and heartful attentiveness to the texts, thus
establishing an honest exploration of the good life. This willingness to give both mind and heart to a
classical work and then return to ourselves is a skill that I hope our scholars will carry with them
through life, not afraid of what truth they’ll come to know, what good they’ll come to do, and what
beauty they’ll come to love.
The following schedule is updated each school day and shows the current week through today, so upcoming days will appear as the week goes on. It is meant to be a secondary source of information. It may not always be accurate, and it is not a substitute for what is said in class. Parents are encouraged to help their child rely on their planner and class notes as the primary source.
