Wesley United Methodist Church founded the Wesley Trinity Daily Bread Lunch Program with The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in 1984.
During the early 1980s, many people from all walks of life, single, married, and with families; those with and without transportation, would come to Wesley United Methodist Church needing money, food, or medicine. We saw many hungry and, sometimes, children needing medical attention. Wesley United Methodist Church, big in faith and trusting in the Lord, knew that because of God's unlimited resources, there would always be food in the pantry, thus enabling them to provide food and help these people on their way.
An idea for feeding our neighbors came during these economically challenging times when many people had lost their jobs, homes, and livelihoods. Reverend Eugene Raphael, Pastor of the Wesley United Methodist Church at the time, shared plans for a "soup kitchen" with Reverend Robert Hedges of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
Over a potluck meal, with love, caring, sharing, openness, and honesty, they made plans to open the Daily Bread Soup Lunch Program. Rev. Hedges told his congregation, "God works in strange ways, and we are now in the soup business." Rev. Hedges and his church decided to partner in this ministry to the poor.
Donations of food and financial gifts from the San Angelo Community resulted in the success of the Daily Bread Program and continue to be vital to this day.

What we do
For almost 40 years, the DBLP has provided nourishing hot meals to men, women and children who would not otherwise have a sustaining meal on a daily basis.
