Write down a key term in big bold letters on one page, and the definition / answer on the next
Make a graphic organiser
Make meaningful links between major concepts, explanations and examples. There are plenty of these available online.
3-2-1 summarising
Summarise a lesson's learning or a syllabus dot point into 3 main points, 2 questions about these points, 1 analogy / example.
Just a minute
Record yourself talking about the learning for one minute. Avoid getting a ‘strike’ (no pauses, hesitations, slips or repetitions). Complete the minute without getting 3 strikes.
Teach it
Explain how you would teach the learning / content to a student who knows nothing about it.
Select, elect
Select 3 important learnings from the lesson / content / syllabus point. Then elect which of the 3 is the most important and explain why.
Rank it
Write down 3-5 important learnings from the lesson / content / syllabus point, rank them in order of importance.
