Students are responsible for the general care of the iPad they bring to MacKillop Catholic College. It is the sole responsibility of the child to take care of their iPad; iPads that are broken or fail to work properly should be fixed as soon as possible to resume daily work.
The iPad is the student’s property and should be treated with respect and care.
Only use a clean, soft cloth to clean the screen, no cleansers of any type.
Cords and cables must be inserted carefully into the iPad to prevent damage.
iPads must never be left in an unattended backpack, unlocked car or unsupervised areas. During assemblies and masses, iPads should be locked in a classroom.
Students are responsible for keeping their iPads battery charged for school each day.
Students must keep their iPad in a protective case at all times.
Students will use computer/devices in a responsible and ethical manner.
Students will obey general school rules concerning behavior and communication that apply to iPad/computer use.
Students will help MacKillop Catholic College protect its computer system/devices by contacting the Field Technician or eLearning Coordinator about any security problems they may encounter.
Students will monitor all activity on their account(s).
Students should always turn off and secure their iPad after they are finished working to protect their work and information.
Students will use the Internet in a safe and appropriate manner, any offensive or inappropriate websites must be reported to class teacher immediately.
Students will respect and look after all iPads including their own, the schools and other students iPads.
All students must accept the Internet Agreement at the beginning of the school year, which is done through Compass. In doing so, students acknowledge that non-compliance will result in consequences which could include a ban on lunchtime iPad / computer use, temporary ban on network access, detention, paying for damaged equipment, removal from class where iPads / computer use is involved, suspension or even criminal charges.
In an effort to be consistent with iPad consequences and direct students to use their devices as an effective learning tool Mackillop use the following procedures. iPad infringements will be recorded by classroom teachers directly into Compass. iPad infringements cover failure to bring iPad, iPad confiscated or inappropriate use of iPad. Students who have three iPad infringements within a term will result in a Short Afternoon Detention. Teachers may still confiscate iPads and / or escalate consequences if they deem necessary.
Students who can not bring their device will be exempt from ipad infringements if have a note from their parent/carer.
