Retail Services is competency-based. Students are assessed ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’ against the performance criteria set out for the elements of competency within each unit of competency. A student's competence will be determined by ongoing assessment which includes written, observation, prac work and verbal discussion.
External Examination: Students will nominate during the HSC year whether they will attempt the examination. The written examination is independent of the competency-based assessment undertaken during the course. The marks achieved by the students in the examination are used for calculation of the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR). The Trial examination mark will only be used for the determination of an estimate in the event of illness and misadventure for the HSC examination, as the examination mark achieved on the day will determine the HSC Examination mark.
Work Placement: There will be 70 hours of work placement for this 240-hour course or RPL.
On successful completion of required units of competencies and work placement in the 240-hour course, students will gain an AQF Certificate III in Retail Services which provides access to UoN equivalent to an ATAR of 67.
This course can be studied with a School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship.
