Dear Year 11,
As you move into Year 11 at St Peter’s Catholic College you are making an important commitment to this final part of your school education.
At St Peter’s we believe that an education also involves the development of students spiritually and socially. Our hope as a staff is that students will leave St Peter’s as responsible, confident and resilient citizens. The following points highlight important aspects of being a senior student:
Be involved in the life of the College, participating in full College events such as liturgies, the Year 11 Retreat and Sports’ Carnivals
Adhere to the College guidelines and expectations
Treat all those you encounter with respect and tolerance
Demonstrate the values of St Peter’s College – courage, compassion and commitment
Wear your uniform with pride
Expectations for Year 11:
Students will have a full program of study
Students will have the opportunity to select courses that allow them to specialise in areas of strength and to follow their chosen career path. There is a necessity for a large number of students to ensure that they qualify for an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank). With this in mind, subject selection and preparation in the Preliminary year is crucial.
Support structures for all students:
Academic counselling is available through the Leaders of Learning.
Careers advice is available through Mr Scott Stretton
Guidance and support is provided by Year 11 Leader of Wellbeing and the Year 11 Homeroom teachers.
Ongoing coaching and mentoring is provided by each student’s homeroom teacher.
The School Counsellors are also available to assist students through their senior schooling.
Our challenge is to ensure that by the end of Year 11, students at St Peter’s have more defined goals concerning their future direction and are working towards achieving these goals. We expect that each student will involve themselves in all facets of College life. Students are advised to work hard to set the foundation for a great future and reap the benefits in later life.
In treating one another with respect, and allowing each other to grow using our talents for the good of everyone, Year 11 will witness the College motto, “Live the Faith”, as a summation of who we are as a Catholic community.
