For Parents

What parents need to know in 2022

In preparation for NAPLAN Online in 2022, your child's school will complete a NAPLAN Online Practice Test in Term One . The practice test will provide an opportunity for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 to familiarise themselves with the types of questions, tools and functions on the NAPLAN Online tests.

This test will take place at your school between Monday 21st March and Friday 8th April 2022. Your child's school will also take part in the Coordinated Practice Test (CPT) that is scheduled for Thursday 24th March 2022.

Year 3 students will undertake online assessments for numeracy, reading and language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) but will do a paper-based NAPLAN writing test. Years 5, 7 and 9 students will undertake all NAPLAN content areas (including writing) online .

Your child will not need any academic preparation for the practice test. This is not a test of their literacy and numeracy skills, but an opportunity for them to experience the online test format. If parents would like to familiarize themselves and their children with the look and feel of the NAPLAN online test, a public demonstration site with sample questions for students is available and linked below.

The NAPLAN Online Assessment Tests for 2022 are scheduled to be held within the period Tuesday 10th - Friday 20th May 2022. Students will complete the following online assessments in this order:

  1. Writing Test (10th - 11th May Test Window)

  2. Reading Test (11th - 20th May Test Window)

  3. Conventions of Language (11th - 20th May Test Window)

  4. Numeracy Test (11th - 20th May Test Window)
