It is no secret that today’s mathematics classrooms look quite different from the math we experienced in school. As educational research advances and we learn more about how the brain develops, our approach to teaching changes and improves at the same time. Unfortunately, the manner in which our standards have shifted the teaching of mathematics was done without consideration for, or communication with, our most important stakeholders- parents. We know that it might be a little confusing, maybe even frustrating at times, when the math your child brings home looks different from the math problems you remember. But don't worry, we are here to help!
