This is my fifteenth year teaching-my sixth at DCS! I teach English/Language Arts (all things Literacy) and Social Studies. This is going to be an exciting year! I have so many great things planned. I know this year is going to be different, but I am ready for the challenge and I know you are too. We study so many great topics in 4th grade and we read so many wonderful books! There is A TON of fun to be had in 4th Grade!
My Family My husband's name is Steve. He is a detective, awesome with computers and cars, and is really funny. We have a son, Bennett. He is ten years old and so awesome! He is really into video games, sports, and music. He is in 4th grade. We also have a daughter, Ann Marie, who is five. She is so funny and sweet! She sings and talks constantly! She likes to dance and loves clothes and shoes. My family lives in different parts of Chattanooga, pretty close, so maybe you will meet them this year. I have an older sister and a younger sister. I also have two nieces who are 19 and 10. We also have a little gray cat named Hope. She is so cuddly, loves being outside and is the best pet!
When I was five years old, and was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said "teacher." Unlike most children, that never wavered. Teaching is all I have ever wanted to do. It is what I am supposed to be doing-and what I love doing. Being a teacher is just a part of who I am. I love teaching because I love being creative, being a weirdo, having fun, and really getting the kids excited about learning. Creating that excitement truly is the heart of my job, I feel. In my class, you will hear singing, chants, partners working together, as well as a bit of quiet time. You will see students engaged in the lessons, participating in all types of activities, and having fun. My expectations are high of the students. I expect them to be responsible for themselves and their choices, to work hard and to participate.
My favorites...
My favorite author is Ted Dekker
Purple is my favorite color.
MY favorite thing to do when I get quiet time is to read while I listen to music.
Music is my favorite! It is part of everything I do! My favorite band is Paramore.
My favorite kids’ books-The Giver by Lois Lowery and Edward the Emu by Sheena Knowles.
I wear my converse shoes often-they are my most favorite shoes that I own! However, in the winter, I wear a pair of boots almost everyday!
I LOVE blankets! I sleep buried under a mound of blankets.
I still love to color. I am VERY Crayola loyal.
I love, love, love Flair pens!
I don’t just teach my subjects because they are the job I was given. I really am into them. I love to read and especially love reading about our nation’s history, specifically about the birth of our nation.
